HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05111999 - C5 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CON T RA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA the Matter of I-Ionoririg ) CONGRESSMAN GEORGE MILLER } PROCLAMATION DAY IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY } WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller has served the people of Contra Costa County with extraordinary distinction and dedication for the past 25 years; and WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller is nationally celebrated as a champion of environmental preservation as Ranking Member and forner Chairrnan and of the House Natural Resources Committee; and WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller's list of legislative achievements includes California water reform, the California Desert Protection Act of 1994, timber reform, foster care and adoption reforms and major portions of the 1990 oil spill liability law and sections of the Energy ,Policy Act of 1992; and WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller has advanced the health and well-being of children and families and is frequently called " the Children's Congressman`; and, WHEREAS, Congressrr4n George Miller has promoted the highest ideals of public- service _ during his tenure in office NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declare that May 14, 1999, be proclaimed CONGRESSMAN GEORGE MILLER DAY in Contra Costa County.
