These shops have also gene beyond compliance by irnplernenting measures to conserve resources (water, energy and solid waste) and prevent pollution from hazardous materials/wastes, PG&E and either Contra.Costa Water District or IEeBM D have audited each shop in this process. I expect owners, managers, or regional managers from 22 ox the shops to be present to receive their certificates. They are from all of your districts, so each of you will "get" to participate. I will have the certificates labelled on top, and ready to give each of you, at the ceremony. After the recognition we will all leave for a reception. Goals of the Program: The overall goal of the program is to encourage businesses to do work which protects the environment and to recognize those businesses for doing this, Specifically,they must do two things: • Be in compliance with all environmental regulations from fire, wastewater, stormwater, Air and Hazardous Materials; and • Implement measures that go beyond compliance to conserve resources in the areas of solid waste, energy, water and hazardous waste. We have begun the program with auto repair shops, and will move on later to other industries, such as printers, clay cleaners and photoprocessors. The program was kicked off in central county in April, east county in June, &west county in September. Wat 5htzps R+ec : They receive a very attractive plaque, 10" window decals, use of the logo in their advertising, recognition in our agency newsletters, local newspapers, etc. We have hired a consultant specifically to make sure that we do a goad job of publicizing bath the overall program and these individual shops. This publicity will begin with the recognition ceremony. 3. Partneri in Implementing the Program: In addition to working closely with the local chapter of the Auto Service Council, for the first time ever we are working jointly with a very lame number of partners from wastewater, stormwater, fire, Air,'Haz vats, solid waste, the water companies, and PG&E: Contra Costa Hazardous Materials Programs,Central Contra Costa Sanitary District,Contra Carta Clean Water Program,Mt.View Sanitary District, delta Diablo Sanitation district,West County Wastewater District,City or Richmond Wastewater,San Raman Valley Fire,Contra Costa County Fine, Richmond Fire,Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority,West Contra Costa Integrated Waste Management Authority, City of Pittsburg,City or San Ramon, Contra Costa Water District, East Bay Municipal Utility District,PGarE,and Bay Area Air Quality Managerr*nt District, Please call if you geed any more information.
