GILBERT,DIRECTOR OF GENERAL SERVICES Contra Costa DATE: March 23, 1999 County SUBJECT: APPROVING THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR REMODELING THIRD FLOOR, 50 DOUGLAS DRIVE, MARTINEZ,FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY FAMILY SUPPORT WPA175 SPECIFIC REQUESTS OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION A. APPROVE a Second Amendment authorizing extra work under the Consulting Services Agreement dated January 5, 1999,with Interactive Resources, Inc. for architectural services for Remodeling Third Floor, 50 Douglas Drive, Martinez for District Attorney Family Support. The Second Amendment increases the scope of services and increases the payment limit, as modified.by Amendment No. 1, from.$101,810.00 to $115,430.00, an increase of$13,620.00. B. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services to execute the Second Amendment to the consulting services agreement and to issue written authorization for extra work., In addition to the authorization for Amendment No. 2,provided that the cumulative total extra cost for such additional authorizations shall not exceed$10,000.00. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT" Sufficient funds are available in the District Attorney's budget to cover this increase in the Consultant's payment limit. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND The Director of General Services executed the original consulting services agreement with the Consultant. The First Amendment increased the scope of services to add an uninterruptible power supply(UPS) system. The Second Amendment increases the scope of services to provide design development, construction documents,bidding and constriction management phases for office landscape partition workstations for Family Support, Third Floor, 50 Douglas Drive,Martinez. Effective Date and Partles: Effective March 23, 1999, Interactive Resources, Inc. (herein called"Consultant"),a California Corporation,and the County of Contra Costa(herein called"County"),a political subdivision of the State of California,mutually agree as follows: 2. Purpos : On January 5, 1999,the parties entered into a contract entitled"Consulting Services Agreement," referred to as the "Agreement,"which covers architectural services for Remodeling Third Floor, 50 Douglas Drive,Martinez for District Attorney Family Support. The parties desire to further amend the Agreement to expand the scope of service and to increase the payment limit accordingly. 3. Amendments to Agreement: A. In the Agreement, Paragraph I(e), change the Payment Limit, as modified by Amendment No. 1, from $101,810.00 to $115,430.00, an increase of$13,620.00.This change shall apply to charges from and after February 8, 1999. B, In accordance with Paragraph 14 of the Agreement,provide the following extra services: Provide design services,bidding and construction phase services for office landscape partition system on the"Third Floor,50 Douglas Drive, Martinez for District Attorney Family Support. 4. Bids for this work will be received on April 29, 1999 at 2:00 p.m., and the Clerk of this Board is directed to publish a Notice to Contractors in accordance with Section 22037 of the Public Contract Code, inviting bids for said work, said Notice to be published in . The Director of General Services is directed to mail notices to the construction trade journals specified in Section 22036 of the Public Contract Code at least 30 days before the date of opening the bids. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of General Services, or his designee, is AUTHORIZED to issue bid Addenda, as needed, for clarification of the contract bid documents, provided the involved changes do not significantly increase the cost estimate for the initial construction contract.
