RESOLUTION NO. 99/126
WHEREAS, Dade Caton is retiring at the end of March, 1999, after 27 years of service to
Contra Costa County as an employee of the Social Service Department; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Caton began her career as a Typist Clerk and was promoted to the ,positions
of Intermediate Typist Clerk, Journey Level Clerk, Journey Level Secretary, and her current
position of Advanced Level Secretary; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Caton has performed her jab duties in an efficient and exemplary fashion and
provided loyal assistance to those she has worked with in her career as a County employee; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Caton's coworkers and associates would like to express their heartfelt
appreciation and gratitude for her support and for having had the opportunity to work with her
during this period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors and
acknowledges Dale Caton's 2 7 years of service to Contra Costa .County and wishes her
happiness and well being in her retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 23, 1999, by a unanimous vote .of the Board
members present.

Adopted this Order on March 23, 1999 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Gioia, Uilkema, Gerber, DeSaulnier and Canciamilla
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Proclaim. Agriculture Week.
The Board of Supervisors received a letter from Mike J. Yukelich,
President, Contra Costa County Farm Bureau, dated Larch 8, 1999,
requesting that the Board declare the week of March 15-20 Ag Week, and
March 20, Ag Day.
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the week of March 15-20,
1999 is PROCLAIMED as "Agriculture Week" and March 20, 1999 is
PROCLAIMED as "Agriculture Day" in Contra Costa County, as
recommended by Supervisor Canciamilla.
I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of
an action taken and entered on the minutes of the
Board of Supervisors on the date shown.

DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL, 1999
AS PARLIAMENTARY LAW MONTH
IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
WHEREAS,Parliamentary law is the cornerstone of a democratic society in observance
of the principles of justice, adherence to order, and enforcement of law with protection of the
rights of all; and
WHEREAS,these principles have contributed immeasurably to the development of
America's legal system and government; and
WHEREAS, the knowledge and practice of parliamentary procedures facilitates the
orderly and expeditious conduct of business in every kind of meeting and gathering; and
WHEREAS,General Henry Robert, author of Rules of Order,America's widely
accepted parliamentary authority for deliberative assemblies,was born 162 years ago this year;
and
WHEREAS,the California Association of Parliamentarians, a Division of the National
Association of Parliamentarians,promotes an understanding of the importance of parliamentary
procedures in advancing the ideals of fairness and justice in a democratic society.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County 4
of Contra Costa, California, does hereby declare the month of April, 1999 as
"PARLIAMENTARY LAW.MONTH"in Contra Costa County, California..
