BACKGROUND: The County has historically contracted with other law enforcement agencies to secure Explosive Ordnance Disposal services. The frequency of incidents within Contra Costa County requiring the specialized services of an EOD unit has not justified the establishment of such a Unit within Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office. As such, contracting for the services of a unit of trained and certified personnel specializing in EOD operations is an effective and efficient use of resources.
