Financial Impact: There would be no impact to the {general Fund. This bill will bring more money to the County for road maintenance and reconstruction. 111. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Senate Bill 1477 allocates $600 million, $200 million annually for three years, from the State Highway Account to counties (50%) and cities (50%)for maintenance, reconstruction and repair of storm damage to local streets and highways. The city or county receiving an allocation would be required to expend a specified amount within one year of disbursement of an allocation. The estimated amount that would be allocated to Contra Costa County is $2.5 million per year, or$7.5 million total. The allocation from the State Highway Account will not affect the projects funded in the 1998 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). IV. Consequences of Negative Action: Lack of support for this bill would not indicate the County's interest in bringing more money to the County for road maintenance.
