By: Steve Knight, Building Inspector II DATE: May 19, 1998 SUBJECT: Appeal of Abatement action at 1830 Bonita Road, San Pablo, APN # 420-072-004. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RSCOMMENMIONB: After hearing the appeal, it is recommended to deny the appeal and affirm the determinations of the County Abatement Officer and direct the County Abatement Officer to proceed and perform the work of abatement. FISCAL IMPACT: None if voluntary compliance. The, cost to the Building Inspection Department could be approximately $3, 000.00 if the Department continues and completes the abatement. BA.QXQROUMZRNASQNS MR R C NDA O S: On November 14, 1995, the Building Inspection Department began an investigation regarding junkyard conditions and an accessory building within the front set back of the parcel. The accessory building has been relocated but there has been no effort by the property owner to eliminate the zoning violation pertaining to junkyard conditions. The Building Inspection Department has duly notified the property owner of the violation, and proposed options to abate the problem. In addition, written correspondences have gone unheeded, leaving the property in a continual state of disrepair. On April 22, 1997, the Building Inspection Department recorded a "Notice of Violation" on the parcel at 1830 Bonita Road, San Pablo, California. on April 7, 1998, the Building Inspection Department posted 1830 Bonita Road, San Pablo, California with a Public Nuisance Abatement Notice declaring the property a junkyard which is not allowed in a R-10 zoned area per Title 8, Section 82-2.006 and Section 84-8.402 . Staff recommends that it be directed to proceed and perform the abatement. CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNATURE , . .
