FISCAL I_M ACT: Funding for this contract is included in the Department' s Enterprise I Budget, and as appropriate, patients and third-party payors will be billed for contractor' s services . BACKGROUND/REASON{S) FOR RECOI4SMENDATION(S) : On March 3, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-178- 11 with Linda Nakell, M.D. , for the period from March 1, 1998 through February 28, 1999, for the provision of behavioral science consultation and training for the Department' s ; Family Practice Residency Program. In addition, Dr. Nakell supervises Residents, works with the Department' s AIDS and Symptom Control Programs, conducts clinical coverage, and consults with patients referred to her by the Residents . Approval of this Contract Amendment Agreement #26-1.78-13 will allow the Contractor to provide additional hours of services through February 28, 1999 . r CONTINUED ON AMCHMENT. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : On September 9, 1997, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #26-010-40 with United Council of Spanish Speaking organizations (UCSSO) for provision of fixed route bus transportation services and augmentation courier services, for the period from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998 . UCSSO has informed the Department that they will. not Iprovide patient transportation services beyond June 30, 1998, but has agreed to continue to provide augmentation courier services . Tri Delta Transit and Westcat will assume responsibility for; transportation services previously provided by UCSSO. FISCAL ILIPACT: None. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOXXJNDATION(S) : On May 24, 1994, the Board of Supervisors approved Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-1.19-2 with San Jose State University, for the period from July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1998, to provide occupational therapy students from San Jose StateUniversity with field education experience. Supervised field work experience in occupational therapy is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. As a teaching hospital, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time taking advantage of the students ' services to County' s patients.
