WHEREAS, the travel and tourism industry carries tremendous importance for the County of
Contra Costa, contributing to our employment, economic prosperity, international trade and
relations, peace, understanding, and goodu ill; and
WHEREAS, every citizen benefits from the effects of travel and tourism; and
WHEREAS, the industry substantially enhances our personal growth and education while
promoting intercultural understanding and appreciation of our county's geography, history, and
culture; and
WHEREAS, we wish to recognize the unique significance of the travel and tourism industry in
the lives of the citizens of Contra Costa.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares the week of
May 3-9, 1998, as NAT70NAL TOMSM UTEK'and urges the people of Contra Costa
to join in this observance.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON May .5, 1998, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
present.
