aftewlc 44EC►tlEt (s)Olt RECOMMINDAMOW S)A lA =40UNO AND JUSMICAnON
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider sending a letter to Assemblymember Aroner expressing a support position on AB 1924
(Aroner).
BACKGROUND:
With the significant number of hospital closures in Contra Costa County and across the state, it
has become increasingly important for local governments to monitor the impacts of the resulting
reduction in services. Contra Costa County has experienced a number of problems related to the
closure or downgrade of hospital emergency departments and AB 1924 would facilitate the
gathering of information useful for tracking the quality of services.
AB 1924 requires clinics and hospitals to annually submit information to the State Department of
Health Services and the county health department for the purpose of determining if a region has
an adequate supply of emergency and urgent care.
