SUBJECT: Approval of Contract #22--664-1 with County
CASHA Resource Home Health Services, Inc.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECQW L1"' 1QX t 8 3 :
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee
(Wendel Brunner, M.D. ) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract
#22-664-1 with CASHA Resource Home Health Services, Inc. , in the amount
of $100, 000, for the period from July 1, 1998 through June 30, 1999, for
provision of in-home health care for AIDS patients.
FISC ._IMPACT:
This Contract is funded by Federal Ryan White (Care Act, Title I) and
AIDS Medi-Cal Waiver funds. No County funds are required.
CHILDREN'S 1,XgACT S'.'AFEXT:
The AIDS Program supports County's "Families that are Safe, Stable, and
Nurturing" community outcome by providing attendant care for children and
families infected with, or affected by, HIV and/or AIDS 'so that they can
remain in their home situation for as long as possible. Expected program
outcomes are reductions in hospital and skilled nursing facility costs.
BAC-40 tO ND 84N S R3CO E DAA' ON :
When a person with AIDS is unable to secure attendant care which would
allow them to remain in the home rather than in an acute Care hospital,
this project provides funding for in-home attendant care services. The
Contractor must attempt to collect from all other sources of payment
(e.g. , private health insurance held by the client, Medi-Cal, Medicare,
etc. ) before the County is billed for these services.
In February 1998, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing
Services Manager executed Contract #22-664 with CASA Resource Home
Health Services, Inc. for the period from February 15, 1998 through June
30, 1998 for provision of in-home health care for AIDS patients.
Approval of Contract #22-664-1 will allow the Contractor to continue
providing services to County's AIDS patients through June 30, 1999.
