On March 1, 1998, one Children's Services-Clerical Specialist retired, thus creating a vacancy. • The unit has experienced a decrease in workload. The workload has gone from 270 cases down to 125. As a result, the department has decided to downgrade the vacant position to Clerk-Senior Level and assign the position lower level duties and responsibilities. The existing higher level duties and responsibilities will be performed by the Children's Services- Clerical Specialist of the second position. • The incumbent of the Clerk-Senior Level position will be responsible for retrieving information from three computer systems, coordinating dual jurisdiction cases and meetings, will act as floater to cover other units, collect fines, fees, and restitution's, open and close court cases, distribute mail and perform other job related clerical tasks. • The cost of this action will be offset by the cancellation of the Children's Services-Clerical Specialist position. • Jim Hicks of Local 2700 was contacted and has no problems with this action.
