Martinez,Executive Director DATE: April 28, 1998 SUBJECT: ONE-YEAR LEASE RENEWAL,FOR BAYO VISTA RESIDENT COUNCIL SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATIONS)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa to enter into a one year Lease Renewal with the Bayo Vista Resident Council,located at the Bayo Vista development,Rodeo,as stated in the attached Lease Renewal. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND The unit located at#23 California Street,Unit#680,located in Bayo Vista development,Rodeo is used by the Bayo Vista Resident Council to conduct meetings,promote senior citizens programs,community meetings,and other community held functions deemed to be in the best interest of the Bayo Vista Development. This space is also used for lunch programs and special youth programs. The Bayo Vista Development consists of 250 low-income units. The Resident Council and Senior Citizens Community Programs greatly enhance resident participation and on-site activities at this location. This lease has been in effect since May, 1993. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should the Board of Commissioners elect not to authorize the Executive Director to enter into a one year Lease Renewal with the Bayo Vista Resident Council,the on-going Resident Council would no longer function and this would be a detriment to the development,as well as the community. RENEWAL OF LEAS THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT made and entered into this 1st day of APRIL 1998, by and between the HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, hereinafter referred to as the "Authority", and BAYO V15TA IFNANT COUNCIL, CORPORATION, hereinafter to be referred to as the "Agency": WITNESSETH. WHEREAS, by lease agreement between the parties hereto, dated MAY 1. 1993 - - , the Authority leased to Agency the right and privilege of occupying space in the BAYO VISTA HOUSING DEVELOPMENT 23 CALMORNIA ST — #680 REET, RODEO, CALIFORNIA. UNIT' of the Authority; and WHEREAS, the Agency desires and the Authority is willing that such lease be renewed for the term of one (1) year. NOW, THEREFORE, the Authority for and in consideration of the promises and covenants in the aforesaid lease, and other valuable consideration, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged,hereby agrees that said lease shall be, and it hereby is, renewed beginning MAY 1. 1998 through APRIL The Agency hereby covenants and agrees that during the course of the renewal period the Agency shall perform and be bound by all of the covenants and conditions contained in said lease agreement of .
