February 5, 1998 Clerk of the Board of Supervisors 651 Pine Street, Room 106 Martinez, CA 94553 RE. Position As Member of Human Retadons Commission Dear Clerk and Board Members: I have been in private practice for ten years, and am currently a partner in the law firm of Davidovitz & Yaron. I am a long-time resident of Contra Costa County who desires a position on the Human Relations Commission which is currently vacant. I hope you will consider my application. My law practice is diverse, including insurance coverage, construction defect, premises liability, breach of contract, employment discrimination and environmental issues. My background in the drafting of personnel manuals, and in handling employment litigation, would provide the commission with additional insight into discrimination issues, while also providing a possible source of alternate dispute resolution techniques and methods for those involved in claims brought to the commission's attention. My more detailed resume is provided herewith. In my personal life, my partner Russ and I have one adopted child and are currently in the process of adopting our second child. Being a gay parent will also allow me to bring a different and more diverse perspective to the board. I have formally been involved in such activities as the Ashland, Oregon Planning Commission, and a financial impact study prepared by Southern Oregon State College regarding the City of Ashland. I would'like to begin my community involvement once again, and believe this would be a great place to start. If you believe that my background and skills would be of benefit to the commission, please feel free to contact me at my home (510-552-5995) or at my office (415-658-2929).
