Bragdon Director of Community Development DATE: June 24, 1997 SUBJECT: California Job Creation Investment Fund SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS SUPPORT the proposed $25 million Job Creation Investment Fund approved by the State Legislature's Welfare Reform Committee, and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director- Redevelopment to send a letter of support for the proposal to the Joint Budget Conference Committee and the Contra Costa legislative delegation. FISCAL IMPACT No general funds are involved. BACKGROUNDiREASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The Joint Budget Conference Committee will be meeting in the next two weeks to consider a $25 million proposal approved by the State Legislature's Welfare Reform Committee to fund job creation activities targeted for individuals impacted by welfare reform.
