REQUESTED ACTION Increase Social Caseworker Position 1852 from 32/40 to 40/40 effective March 1, 1997. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT The additional County cost will be $184 a month. This position was budgeted in the Department' s 96-97 budget at the Social Casework Specialist II level. CALCULATIONS $4360 40/40 Social Casework Specialist I Step 1 ($3230 x 35% benefits) -3468 80% State and Federal funding $ 872 County monthly cost $3488 32/40 Social Casework Specialist I Step 1 (4/5 position) -2790 80% State and Federal funding $ 698 County monthly cost $872 County cost for a full time position -698 Less County cost for 32/40 position $184 Additional monthly county cost III . BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR REQUEST The Department requests that 32/40 FTE Social Casework Specialist I position 1852 be increased by eight hours to 40 hours, 1 full time FTE. The position is assigned to a Hercules Child Welfare Family Reunification unit. In a review of operations the Department has determined that the large FR caseloads in Hercules require that this be a full time position. These additional hours can be accommodated in this year' s budget. The Department will continue to monitor the budget for the division and make adjustments as necessary. Carl Nishi, who is currently in this position, is working 8 hours overtime a week and has requested that his position be full time. Gen 9c (New 3/86)
