HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05201997 - D4 DA THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on May 20, 1997, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Rogers, Uilkema, Canciamilla and DeSaulnier NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: Supervisor Gerber SUBJECT: Workshop with the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council Emma Kuevor, County Affirmative Action Officer, and Johnathan Dumas, Chair, Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council conducted a workshop which outlined issues of concern to the Council and provided data on the racial distribution of some 300+ top managers in Contra Costa County. Subsequent to the workshop presentation, Board members commented on the issues and took the following action: 1. ACCEPTED report from Emma Kuevor, County Affirmative Action Officer, and Johnathan Dumas, Chair, Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council as presented to the Board today, including reaffirming the Board's commitment to Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employment. In voting to abstain, Supervisor Gerber stated that she had been absent during the presentation of the workshop; I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown. Van Mart sistant County Administrator SUBJECT: WORKSHOP WITH HE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL On April 8, 1997, on the recommendation of the Internal Operations Committee, the Board of Supervisors agreed to meet-'with the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council and removed this issue as a referral to the Internal Operations Committee. We have now scheduled time for the Council to meet with the Board at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Attached as background for this Workshop are the following: ♦ An agenda prepared by the Council consisting of items the Council wishes to discuss with the Board of Supervisors. ♦ Data on the racial. distribution of some 300+ top managers in the County. We understand that members of the EEOAC will be available to discuss their agenda with the Board.
