RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Frank Puglisi, Jr. ) , to execute on behalf of the County, Standard Contract #26-251-5 with Interim Physicians, Inc. dba Western Physicians Registry, for the period from May 15, 1997 through May 31, 1998, for recruitment of locum tenens physicians for Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Health Centers. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this Contract is included in the Department' s Enterprise _ I Budget. The Contractor will be paid a finders fee of 15% of the amount County pays the locum tenens physicians which Contractor recruits and places at Merrithew Memorial Hospital. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: on June 18, 1996, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Contract #26-251-4 with Interim Physicians, Inc. dba Western Physicians Registry, for the period from May 15, 1996 through May 14, 1997 . This Contractor, which specializes in placement of locum tenens physicians, recruits physicians for the County, which the County then hires to work as temporary employees to provide vacation, sick leave, and extended leave relief for County-employed physicians. Physicians, placed by the Contractor, are required to be members of the County's Medical Staff and to be credentialed through existing medical staff processes. Approval of Standard Contract #26-251-5 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through May 31, 1998 .
