WICK 0026446, WICK 0020727, WICK 0022643, SRO 29961/62 , & OAK 018339 SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)8 BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Receive this report concerning subject final settlement and payment in the total amount of $65, 000 from the Workers ' Compensation Trust Fund. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: Peter L. Dragolovich, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within authorization an agreement has been reached settling the workers ' compensation claim of Lillie Cuff vs . Contra Costa County. This Board' s December 10, 1996 closed session vote was : Supervisors DeSaulnier, Bishop, Canciamilla, and Smith, yes; Supervisor Rogers, absent. This action is being taken so that terms of this final settlement and the earlier December 10, 1996 closed session vote of this Board authorizing its negotiated settlement are known publicly. BACKGROUND: Sandra Bustillo, an employee of the Social Service Department, uses her eyeglasses for reading to perform her duties . The glasses disappeared off her desk. As authorized by Administrative Bulletin 313 .2, the Personal Property Claims Committee reviewed and approved reimbursement which will be paid by the department. Imbach Post No. 913; and WHEREAS, since its inception, this post has been a service connected organization, assisting troubled veterans, and their families; and WHEREAS, the George F. Imbach Post No. 913 is the oldest VFW post in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, its members are active in a variety of civil and community organizations and activities including working with the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts in West Contra Costa County as well as, servicing needy veterans during the Christmas season with canned goods and food baskets; and WHEREAS, Post No 913 has a National Home in Eden, Michigan that provides housing and funds for schooling for the widows and children of veterans who have passed away; and WHEREAS, this Post has a history of being involved with legislative issues regarding MIA's and POW's, Now, therefore be it resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does honor and commend the VFW Post No. 913 for its outstanding contributions and community service to the County of Contra Costa and joins together in congratulating it on the occasion of its 75th anniversary celebration.
