BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as
Governing Board of the County of Contra Costa, and all districts of which it is the ex-officio
Governing Board, APPROVES the attached Side Letter of Agreement between Contra Costa
County and AFSCME, Local 512 to amend Section 52D, Professional Development of the
Memorandum of Understanding.

Dear Mr. Hicks:
This is to confirm the agreement reached by the County of Contra Costa
and AFSCME Local 512 to amend Section 52D, Professional
Development, as follows:
D. Professional Development. Reimbursement will be provided for up to
$150 fiscal year for memberships in professional organizations,
subscriptions to professional publications, aPA attendance fees at job-
related professional development activities, job-related books
electronic calendars and organizers, and software and hardware from a
standardized County approved list or with Department Head approval,
provided each employee complies with the provisions of the Computer
Use and Security Policy adopted by the Board of Supervisors.
Authorization for individual professional development reimbursement
requests shall be made by the Department Head. Reimbursement
will occur through the regular demand process with demands being
accompanied by proof of payment (copy of invoice or canceled
check).
