HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03111997 - D1 D. 1 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA DATE: March 11, 1997 MATTER OF RECORD ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ SUBJECT: Budget Workshop On this date Phil Batchelor, County Administrator, presented the first in a series of budget workshops to the Board of Supervisors . Mr. Batchelor explained the budget schedule and process and commented on budget policies including augmentation accompanied by reduction, continuing to maintain reserves, and identifying revenue so that the Board will know how it is allocated. Mr. Batchelor also identified various budget documents and presented a brief history of general county revenues and the erosion of local control . Mr. Batchelor advised that the budget workshop scheduled for April 8, 1997, would be on the Driving Forces of Change and that the workshop scheduled for May 6, 1997, would be on Budget Operations . Supervisor Uilkema expressed a desire to have further understanding of the components of the General Fund. Supervisor Rogers questioned Mr. Batchelor on the status of the Employee of the Year program. Mr. Batchelor responded on the reasons the program had been cut and advised that the County is attempting to resurrect the program. THIS IS A MATTER FOR RECORD PURPOSES ONLY NO BOARD ACTION TAKEN
