HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06251996 - AJ1 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF: ) Adjourning the meeting ) RESOLUTION 96/277 of the Board of Supervisors ) in Memory of Arnold Mazotti ) WHEREAS, Arnold Mazotti was a pioneer in the field of public finance, having worked in the field for 40 years, and WHEREAS, the most common instrument now used by school districts, cities and counties, the Tax and Revenue Anticipation Note (TRAN), was developed by Arnold Mazzoti and WHEREAS, Mr. Mazotti worked as Contra Costa County's financial adviser for two decades. At the time when the County developed a big mid-year deficit, other financial advisers abandoned the County. Arnold Mazzoti stuck by the County and helped it get itself back on a sound financial footing, and WHEREAS, today, Contra Costa County is one of the top-rated counties in the State as evidenced by the fact that we recently obtained the most competitive rate achieved by any county in the State when we sold our TRAN, in no small measure due to the advice and guidance of Arnold Mazotti, and WHEREAS,Arnold Mazotti worked with this County on creative financial alternatives which would save the County money, one of which was the prepayment of our telephone costs for a period of ten years which results in a savings of$20 million to the County, and WHEREAS, the County has realized tens of millions of dollars of revenue due in part to the good work of Arnold Mazzoti, and WHEREAS, Arnold Mazotti was a man of integrity and a professional in every sense and the citizens of Contra Costa County have benefitted from his service, and WHEREAS, Arnold Mazotti died suddenly on Monday, June 24, 1996; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA RESOLVED that the County honors the memory of Arnold Mazotti and shows its great respect and affection for him by ADJOURNING the meeting of the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, June 25, 1996 in memory of Arnold Mazotti.
