HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06181996 - P1 Waq"nr-;m IN THE MATTER OF PROCLAIMING ] RESOLUTION NO. 96/269 THE WEEK OF JUNE 21-29, 1996 ] IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY. ] AS BOCCE WEEK ] WHEREAS, BOCCE is an affordable sport that people of all ages can participate in. BOCCE transcends all boundaries of nationality, sex, social, economic status and physical abilities and has provided thousands of Contra Costa residents with both a competitive and social form of recreation; and, WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is known as the Bocce hotbed of the country with more players per capita and more tournaments than any other area in the United States. The Martinez Bocce Federation is the largest bocce league in this country; and WHEREAS, the United States Bocce Federation is headquartered in Contra Costa County and the national federation has sanctioned the 1996 United States Championships; and, WHEREAS, the Martinez Bocce Federation and the city of Martinez, Contra Costa's county seat will be hosting the national championships during the week of June 21-29, 1996; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does proclaim the week of June 21-29, 1996 as BOCCE WEEK IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY PASSED by vote of the Board members present on this 18th day of June, 1996. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered into the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
