'Su Salud-East County MeaCth Fair Day'

` MEWWS, in August, 1995, Supervisor Torfakson introduced, and was unanimously
supported 6y the Board of Supervisors, an "Action Tfiin for a Nealthy Contra Costa County'and
WJITU7S, an important component of this proposed Action Flan included a
comprehensive approach to reducing mortality, disease andattendant suffering;and
W&U,5, in Wovem6er 1995 Supervisor 7orlakson met with medical professionals,
community faders and concerned representatives of several organizations representing East Contra
Costa County wherein the concept of a "Su Salud-East County Mealth Fair"was developed;and
U WE4MM, this same group continued to meet on a monthly and then 6i-weekly basis to
develop the support and resources necessary to hold the first "Su Salud- East County NeaCth Fair
and
14,9&UM, the purpose of the Su Salud MeaCth Fair is to provide education and free
medicalscreenings to uninsuredandunderinsuredresidents of East County;and
UVEUAS, hundreds of doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals, as well"
as hundreds of volunteers providing clerical and support services; will provide immunizations and
screenings for glaucoma, anemia, information about breast and skin cancer screenings, dental
screenings, AIDS testing, (partial listing) as weft as educational and resource materials addressing
numerous health issues;and

away;and
tiM2�,�E` AS, the "Su Salud- East County Vearth T air"will"be held on Sunday, 9une 23,
1996 commencing at 8.00 a.m. until4:00 p.m.at Los Wedanos College in Bitts6urg.

County of Contra Costa, California does hereby proclaim Sunday,June 23, 1996 as "Su SaCud-East
County MeaCtfi Fair Owy-in Contra Costa County.

commends the outstanding efforts of the numerous volunteers providing medical; dental; clerical and
support services in the devefzpment andimpCementation of this important community event.
