June in 1861, in Kglam6a, ThdiiTines;and

anthropologist, 6otanist, 6usinessman, economist, educator, engineer,farmer, historian, horticulturist,
finguist, mathematician, noveCtst, naturalist, painter, physician, poet, philosopher, psychologist,
sculptor, sociologist, and zoologist, among marry things, 6ut more than these, he was a patri64 hero,
and martyr, and
4 iMoEAS, while in Europe during the late 1880 s, or. Ozal wrote novels and articles
ung for reforms in government and defending the rights of the Filipinos to a 6ettergovernment and
the recognition and respect for their human rights,freedom and justice;and
WXE4", on June 20, 1892, or: QUzal returned to the ThiCppines to continue his peaceful
campaign for reforms organizing the Liga Filipino to unite the Filipinos. On July 6, 1892, he was
imprisoned for unjustifw6le reasons and then 6anished Me was herd responsi6le for the outbreak of
the Phdttppine 9;Zpolution on August 23, 1896, and returned to prison. After a mock trial 6y miCtary
court, he was sentenced to death 6y a firing squad and died as a martyr to the cause of human rights
andfreedom on Decem6er30, 1896;.
