SUBJECT: Approval of Project Contingency Fund Increase and Contract Change Order No. 5 for the
San Pablo Dam Rd. Slide Repair at Station 252 +00 project, Project No. 0672-6R6523-
93, EI Sobrante area.

I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE Project Contingency Fund increase of $2,000.00 and Contract Change Order No. 5,
in the approximate amount of$3,500.00, and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute
it in order to compensate the contractor, Kulchin-Condon & Associates, for additional extra work
done at agreed price.
II. Financial Impact:
The increase in the contingency fund will be funded by Federal Aid Storm Damage Repair Funds
(64.5%) and County Road Funds (35.5%).
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
Additional unforeseen extra work not on the original plan was required to complete the project.
Because the total of Contract Change Orders Nos. 1-5 exceeds $25,000.00 and exceeds the
project contingency fund, Board approval of the Change Order and the increase in the contingency
fund is required.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
The lack of APPROVAL would preclude payment to the contractor for work required for the
successful completion of the contract.
