WHERF,4S, California State Parks provide for the health, inspiration, and education of their
visitors through their recreational opportunities and natural serenity; and
WHEREAS, the Parks protect and preserve the State's extraordinary biological diversity and
most valued natural and cultural resources,-,and
WHEREAS, California is blessed with a variety of natural and historical parks that furnish
positive experiences to visitors, and, here in Contra Costa County, we are fortunate to be
neighbors with Mt. Diablo State Park which is the beautiful centerpiece of our county; and
WHEREAS, by visiting Mt. Diablo State Park, citizens of all ages can develop a greater
appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage of Contra Costa; and
WHEREAS, Mt. Diablo has opportunities for families to enrich and strengthen their relationships
by utilizing the Park's many picnic and camping grounds, view points, and hiking trails; and
WHEREAS, the benefits derived from all of California State Parks and, especially,. Contra
Costa's landmark, Mt. Diablo, shall be recognized and celebrated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares May 1996 as
STATE PARRS MONTH in Contra Costa County and encourages its citizens to take time to
visit these natural treasures beginning with the remarkable park in our own backyard.
PASSID AND ADOPTED ON May 7, 1996, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
