II. Fin ancial Impact:
Payment of$232,150 from the County Liability Trust Fund.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
A landslide has occurred on County-owned property and on two adjacent public roads, Beaulieu
Drive and Sandy Cove Lane. In closed session on March 19, 1996, the Board declared the slide
a disaster area and approved the expenditure of funds to purchase necessary property rights.
County staff is planning emergency measures to control further earth movement, stabilize the
slope and repair damage which has already occurred. The project is scheduled to occur this
summer and requires the expeditious acquisition of five single family homes and the relocation
of five resident families.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
Delay or failure to act could result in further damage to public and private property and substantial
increased cost to the County.
