MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: May 21, 1996 SUBJECT: Reject Bids Received on April 30, 1996 for the Shell Avenue Frontage Improvement Project, Martinez area. Project No.: 0662-6R4278-94 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: REJECT all bids received on April 30, 1996 for the Shell Avenue Frontage Improvements Project; and DIRECT that any bid bonds posted by the bidders are to be exonerated and any checks or cash submitted for security shall be returned. II. Financial Impact: None III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Rejection of all bids is in the County's best interest, and the Public Works Department recommends that all bids be rejected. Pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 20393, as well as the Notice to Contractors, the Board in its discretion may reject all bids. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: If the bids are not rejected the bids remain valid for another ten days. This could affect the bidders' ability to bid other work.
