Miner, Executive Director Contra Costa County Private Industry Council Costa 'z �� ;�.• : - w,.4o County DATE: May 8, 1996 °as>A c6uK SUBJECT: proclaim the Month of June as "Employ A Youth This Summer" in Contra Costa County SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I .RECOMMENDED ACTION: For the aoard of Supervisors to proclaim the month of June as "Employ a Youth this Summer" in Contra `Costa -'County; and encourage the business community and Chambers of Commerce to promote awareness of the need to generate summer jobs and employ our unemployed youths during the summer months, through the Private Industry Council, C.C.C. Superintendent of Schools; and State Employment Development Department' s Summer Youth Programs . II . FINANCIAL IMPACT: None, business community and private citizens (Employers) will hire youth. III . REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The Private Industry Council in Partnership with phe Board of Supervisors, the business community, Chambers of Commerce, State Employment Development Department: and the Office of Education will collaborate in providing our unemployed county youth with a "seamless one stop youth jobs program" ; and CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNATURE: RECOMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE APPROVE OTHER SIGNATURE(S): ACTION OF BOARD ON-- May 21 , 1996 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED OTHER VOTE OF SUPERVISORS I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THIS IS A TRUE UNANIMOUS(ABSENT r. The need for the Board of Supervisors to continue supporting and promoting the welfare of our unemployed youth is key to the future of youth and the county' s economic climate.
