HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04021996 - C9 T THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Resolution on April 2, 1995 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Rogers, Bishop, DeSaulnier, Torlakson, Smith NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None RESOLUTION NO. 96/134 SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE advertisement and issuance of Flood Control Permits for the removal and recycling sediment material stockpiled on Flood Control District lands in the North Richmond area. The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County RESOLVES THAT: WHEREAS, the District has removed approximately 10,000 cubic yards of sediment from Wildcat and San Pablo Creeks as part of normal maintenance desilting operations, and stockpiled the material on District lands; and WHEREAS, the cost of disposal of the sediment material at the West Contra Costa Sanitary Landfill would be $20 per cubic yard at a total estimated disposal cost of$200,000 plus equipment and labor costs, and WHEREAS, the District needs to remove the sediment material in order to make room for future material or sale of the property, and WHEREAS, the District expects to stockpile more sediment material on District lands.as part of future normal maintenance desilting operations, and WHEREAS, the sediment material is suitable for recycled use, and WHEREAS, local contractors have stated that the material is good for use in landscaping fill, after screening and mixing the material with organic additives, and WHEREAS, advertizing the availability of the sediment material will encourage other private contractors to consider recycling the material and increase the rate at which the material is removed from the District lands, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Contra Costa County Flood Control & Water Conservation District to advertize the availability of the material for recycling and other purposes and issue permits to private contractors or individuals interested in removing and recycling the material. 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
