BACKGROUND The contract for construction management with O'Brien-Krietzberg & Associates for the Merrithew Memorial Hospital Replacement Project requires a monthly status report to be filed with the Project Director in the Office of the County Administrator. A copy of the monthly progress report is provided to the Clerk of the .Board and the Board of Supervisors for information purposes. Structural steel is now in the final stages of welding, which continued throughout the month. With metal decks in place, all the major trades, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection now have the access to perform the major part of their rough-in.. Conduits and inserts were placed in the decks prior to pours, decks received final welds and concrete was poured. Overhead rough-in continued with top-track framing for walls, ceiling wires for the suspended ceiling, duct straps for HVAC, and fire sprinkler drops. Fireproofing began this month and progressed through the second floor. Fabrication of ductwork began on the first floor and the first shipment of door frames arrived. The architect is nearing completion on the construction drawing changes for the 4th and 5th floor and plans to submit them to OSHPD the first week in April. The schematic wiring diagram was received from the telecommunication consultant. The document was reviewed and returned with comments for resubmittal; the re-submittal is due April 1st. Information regarding final equipment selection and correction items were forwarded to the medical equipment consultant. A site visit is planned for early May which will confirm all selections and resolve remaining open items and kick-off the procurement process. Budget: The total project budget is$81,841,000. The attached project cost report shows the forecast amounts. Current expenditures have been updated. The construction forecast includes the estimate for the 4th and 5th floor changes. The contractor's cost proposal for this work is expected mid-April. Schedule: The contractor has submitted its schedule update for March which includes the 4th and 5th floor changes. The contractor's revised schedule shows a contract completion date of September 8th, which has not yet been approved. This indicates a 20 work day., or, one calendar month extension due to the 4th and 5th floor changes. Once the review is complete, an extension, if justified will be approved. Schedule slippage has been kept to a minimum due to the team cooperation during the planning of the 4th and 5th floor changes. Critical work around activities were authorized to avoid or minimize schedule impacts.
