Our Committee, at our meeting on April 1, 1996, considered what process should be followed to fill this seat. Mr. Aswad has been a valuable member of the Substance Abuse Advisory Board and is interested in being reappointed. As a result, we are recommending that Mr. Aswad be reappointed for a full three year term. Three representatives to be nominated by each members of the Board of Supervisors. Five at-large members to be nominated by the Internal Operations Committee to insure geographic, racial and ethnic diversity on the Advisory Board. Any individual who is a paid employee of or a paid consultant to any agency which contracts with the County on behalf of its Health Services Department for any drug or alcohol-related programs is prohibited from serving on this Board. Any individual who is a volunteer member of the Board of Directors of any agency which contracts with the County on behalf of its Health Services Department or any drug or alcohol-related program is discouraged from serving.
