Martinez,Executive Director DATE: March 27, 1996 SUBJECT: ONE YEAR LEASE RENEWAL,EL PUEBLO RESIDENT COUNCIL SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE one year lease renewal for the El Pueblo Resident Council and AUTHORIZE the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa to enter into a one year Lease Renewal with the El Pueblo Resident Council for use of 62 and 64 Treatro Avenue, Pittsburg, as stated in the attached Lease Renewal. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND The units located at 62 and 64 Treatro Avenue, Pittsburg, are used by the El Pueblo Resident Council to conduct meetings,promote senior citizens programs, community meetings, and other community held functions deemed to be in the best interest of the El Pueblo development and community at large. This space is also used for lunch programs and special youth programs. This lease has been in effect since May, 1993. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not authorize the Executive Director to enter into a one year Lease Renewal with the El Pueblo Resident Council,the on-going programs developed by the El Pueblo Resident Council would no.longer function and this would be a detriment to the development, as well as the community. ATTESTED March 26,1996 PHIL BATCHELOR,CLERK OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND CO TY ADMINISTRATOR BY ,DEPUTY RENEWAL OF LEASE • THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT made and entered into this 1st day of APRIL, 1996, by and between the HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, hereinafter referred to as the "Authority", and EL PUEBLO RESIDENT COUNCIL, hereinafter to be referred to as the "Agency": WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, by lease agreement between the parties hereto, dated MAY 1, 1993, the Authority leased to Agency the right and privilege of occupying space in the EL PUEBLO HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, 62 & 64 TREATRO AVENUE, PITTSBURG, CALIFORNIA 94565 , of the Authority; and WHEREAS, the Agency desires and the Authority is willing that such lease be renewed for the term of one (1) year. NOW, THEREFORE, the Authority for and in consideration of the promises and covenants in the aforesaid lease, and other valuable consideration, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hereby agrees that said lease shall be, and it hereby is, renewed beginning MAY 1, 1996 through APRIL 30, 1997. The Agency hereby covenants and agrees that during the course of the renewal period the Agency shall perform and be bound by all of the covenants and conditions contained in said lease agreement of MAY 1, 1993. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have set their hands the day and year first hereinabove set forth.
