SUBJECT: Contract for Community Punishment Options Planning Grant
Specific Request(s) or Recommendations(s) & Background & Justification
RECOMMENDATION:
AUTHORIZE the County Administrator or his designee to execute on behalf of the County a contract
with California Probation, Parole, Correctional Association to conduct a survey of national alternative
sanction model programs in various areas, for the period March 1, 1996 through June 30, 1996, in the
amount of $5,000.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The contract listed above is funded through a $92,232 grant with the Board of Corrections. This contract
is integral to the implementation of the Community Punishment Options Planning grant.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
On January 26, 1996 the County was notified of its $92,232 award from the Board of Corrections to fund
planning efforts to reduce the number of State and Youth Authority commitments. The grant, which runs
from January 26, 1996 through June 30, 1996, is designed to assist Contra Costa county in the
development of planning for community punishment options. Grant funds will support the overall
coordination and management of the planning. The contract with California Probation, Parole,
Correctional Association funds a survey of national alternatives in various areas.
