The DDLA provides for the block bounded by 2nd, 3rd, Grove and Chesley to be redeveloped into a 52-unit senior housing project with potentially a health center, sheriff substation, and a commercial/retail component. In total, there are nineteen (19) parcels to be assembled for this project. The Real Property Division of Contra Costa County has been facilitating the successful acquisition of all these properties necessary to develop the senior housing project. On December 6, 1994, the Redevelopment Agency approved a contract for $45, 000 with the Real Property Division of Public Works to acquire the parcels and provide the necessary relocation services . The property acquisition and relocation services for this project were much greater than originally estimated. Therefore, the contract needs to .be increased by $50, 000 to allow the Agency to fully acquire and prepare the site for new development. I
