HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07181995 - C77 c 77 =- Contra TO: REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY WJIa FROM: Phil Batchelor J County Executive Director DATE : July 18, 1995 SUBJECT: Pittsburg Avenue Extension, North Richmond SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS (S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS Approve and Authorize the Deputy Director - Redevelopment and the Public Works Director to sign a contract between the County Redevelopment Agency and the County of Contra Costa for the construction of the Pittsburg Avenue extension located in the North Richmond Redevelopment Project Area. FISCAL IMPACT No General Fund money will be used on this project. The total estimated contract amount is $425, 000. The Redevelopment Agency will reimburse the County for expenditures for up to $100, 000 out of its Bond Proceeds for the North Richmond Project Area. Area of Benefit funds for North Richmond will be used to pay the remaining costs . BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS A major redevelopment activity in North Richmond is to improve. and upgrade the existing infrastructure . The existing road terminates at Central Avenue which requires traffic to use extremely substandard and hazardous roads in order to access the Richmond Parkway. This contract will extend Pittsburg Avenue to 3rd Street, giving a direct and safe access to the Richmond Parkway.
