TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
FROM: J. MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
DATE: July 11, 1995
SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO LEASE WITH FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) FOR
THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER (ATC) AT BUCHANAN FIELD AIRPORT
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director or his designee to sign on behalf of the
County, a Modification to the Lease with the Federal Aviation Administration for the Air Traffic Control
Tower at the Buchanan Field Airport.
II. Financial Impact:
Increase of annual revenue from $9,700.00 per year to $20,000.00 per year.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
On October 27, 1959 the Board of Supervisors approved a Lease between the Federal Aviation
Administration and the County for the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC) at the Buchanan Field Airport.
The annual rental fee has been computed on the actual operating costs of the ATC. Since operating costs
have increased and the Airport has done some extensive work on the heating and cooling system in the
ATC it is therefore necessary to increase the annual rent paid to the County.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
If the lease modification is not executed, it would cause a $10,300.00 loss of revenue to the Airport
Enterprise Fund.
