As you know, the Water Board is responsible for considering a discharge permit for this facility. While this matter is under regulatory review, it is not appropriate for either the Cal/EPA as a whole, or the Board in particular, to take a position until the details of the completion of the drain have been developed and until all evidence and testimony have been considered in a public forum. If the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation proceeds with an application for a permit for this facility, the Board will provide the forum for all sides to be heard. I have asked the Board to notify you if and when that occurs. Thank you again for taking the time to write. Should you have any questions or need, additional assistance, please feel free to call Jack E, Hodges, Chief of the Nonpoint Source Agricultural Unit, Division of Water Quality, Water Board, at (916) 657-0682 . Sincerely, e>> James M. Strock 555 Capitol Mall,Suite 235 a Sacramento,California 95814 ® (916)445-3846 • Fax: (916)445-6401 Vrb-d on recycled pepw
