NORVAL TURNER FOR ACHIEVING ]
HUG EST HONORS IN HIS CHOSEN ]
PROFESSION OF FOOTBALL COAL : ]
WHEREAS, Norval Turner, raised in Martinez from the age of one,
became an outstanding Alhambra High School football player, led the
Bulldogs to their first undefeated season in the long history of
Alhambra, and was named an All East Bay Safety and Quarterback; and
WHEREAS, Norval Turner attended the University of Oregon, where he
shared quarterback duties with football Hall of Famer Dan Fouts and
following graduation served as offensive coach for the Oregon
Ducks, the University of Southern California and later the Los
Angeles Rams; and
WHEREAS, Norval Turner became the offensive coordinator for the
Dallas Cowboys, helping to guide them to TWO SUPE'RBOWL VICTORIES;
and
WHEREAS, Norval Turner then moved on to our nations capitol to
became the Head Coach of the Washington Redskins football team; and
WHEP.EAS, Norval Turner has never forgotten his roots and the
sportsmanship he acquired in his honetown. Norval Turner has
returned to his hone county to assist the youth of Martinez by
donating the proceeds from his testimonial dinner to the his alma
Mater, Alhambra High School; and
WHEREAS, Norval Turner busy life is enriched by his wife of 14
years, Nancy, and three children, Scott, 12, Stephanie, 10 and
Drew, 14; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County honor, recognize and commend
Coach Norval Turner
for his outstanding achievement and commitment to good
sportsmanship and teamwork.
PASSED by vote of the Board members present on this 20th day of
June, 1995.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of
a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on
the date aforesaid.
