This report would then be used to assess the need and timing for a Far East County Master Thoroughfare Plan. Subsequent to the Transportation Committee ' s action, our legislative advocate advised that immediate opportunities to secure PVEA funding grant for projects, such as the proposed Far East County Master Thoroughfare Plan, are possible in the current legislative session. This opportunity is limited, however, because it is linked to budget authorizations now under consideration by the State Legislature and require getting a legislator to sponsor a grant request . The window of opportunity for PVEA grants will close in several days once the State Legislature approves budget authorization for the upcoming fiscal year. The Transportation Committee recommends that the Board take advantage of this limited and immediate opportunity by authorizing Smith & Kempton to work with the County' s state legislative delegation on a PVEA grant request to fund the proposed Far East County Master Thoroughfare Plan.
