SUBJECT: Board Financial Sponsorship of the I-680 Telecommunications Summit
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMN ENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
AUTHORIZE financial sponsorship by Contra Costa County of the I-680 Telecommunications Summit,to
be'held Friday, June 16, 1995 at the San Ramon Marriott.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Major Sponsorship will cost'$2500. As a major sponsor the County will.receive the following benefits:
primary on-site recognition, with the name/logo displayed by the dais; primary recognition in the
,promotional materials (see attached copy of promotional brochure); primary recognition in press releases;
primary recognition on day of Summit; four free admissions; and seating at the VIP table..
BACKGROUND:
On February 7, 1995, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors authorized "Supervisor Bishop to work
with staff to develop telecommunications conference on the characteristics that make Contra Costa County
unique in the,telecommunications field, including the telecommunications highway along I-680 and related
areas; recognizing the strategic placement of corporate offices in this corridor, and the interest of the County
in advancing this technology". To that end, Supervisor Bishop in conjunction with County staff and ,
representatives of government, education and the private sector have organized the I-680
Telecommunications Summit. The program and financial sponsorship represents a broad spectrum of the
telecommunications industry, education community and local government (see attached brochure).
Financial sponsorship by the Couniy is consistent with its previous support.
