HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05091995 - CS (2) THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA In the matter of ) Proclaiming `Nater ) Resolution No. 95/201 Awareness Month ) Whereas, water is essential to life; and Whereas, the citizens of Contra Costa County have come to rely on the safety and purity of their drinking water supply from the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) ; and Whereas, high quality water has been the hallmark of EBMUD's drinking water since the District was created more than 70 years ago; and Whereas, the rising demand for water from population growth and development in California must be balanced with the needs of the environment and agriculture; and Whereas, in 1986 EBMUD launched a decade-long, $85-million Treatment Improvement Program that will ensure its ability to provide a safe, reliable water supply that will continue to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water regulations; and Whereas, EBMUDDIs state-of-the-art laboratory annually performs more than- 300, 000 analyses on water samples to further assure the purity of the water served to its customers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS hereby DECLARES the month of May 1995 as Water Awareness Month in Contra Costa County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COMMENDS the East Bay Municipal Utility District for its efforts, contributions, and commitment to the citizens of Contra Costa County through the delivery of high quality water. PASSED on May 9, 1995, by unanimous vote of the Board Members present.
