SUBJECT: Approval of project contingency fund increase and Contract Change Order No. 6
for the Ygnacio Valley Road Overlay/Cowell Road Intersection Improvements,
Project No. 0662-6R4221-92, Concord area.

I. Recommended Action:
Approve project contingency fund increase of$10,000.00 and Contract Change Order No. 6, in the
approximate amount of$25,000.00, and authorize the Public Works Director to execute it in order
to compensate the contractor, Oliver de Silva/De Silva Gates, for additional work due to changes
in design and field conditions.
II. Financial Impact:
The increase in the contingency fund will be from Measure C-Return to Source (95%) and the City
of Concord (5%).
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
Additional item increase and unforseen extra work not on the original plan were required to
complete the project. Because the total of Contract Change Orders Nos. 1 through 5 exceeds
$25,000.00 and exceeds the project contingency fund, Board approval of the change order and the
increase in the project contingency fund is required.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
Without approval the contractor will not receive payment for work required.
