Dear Dr. Gaston:
In this era of dwindling public resources and seemingly unending increases in the number
of families in .crisis, there is an urgent need for a new service delivery paradigm for
children and families. Contra Costa County's Office of the County Administrator, the
County Departments of Health Services, Probation and Social Service, the County
Superintendent of Schools and the Mt. Diablo School District have joined together over the
past two years to create an integrated service delivery system that draws upon the
resources not only of public agencies, but of communities as well.
Innovative, collaborative models for delivering human services to under served, and
vulnerable populations play a vital role in meeting the needs of families and children
during these times of limited resources. Contra Costa County's Family Service Centers
are an extremely creative and successful models for improving the efficiency and
effectiveness of human service delivery to at-risk communities. Contra Costa Cdunty
would appreciate the opportunity to share its successes with other localities I and
practitioners at the Models that Work Symposium on November 20, 1995.
Sincerely,
/ / 9
Gayle Bishop
