FINANCIAL IMPACT: BACKGROUND: One March 4, 1995, at 8:00 a.m., Mary Ann Savignano arrived at the Lafayette branch. Upon entering the library, discovered the library had been broken into. Both the copy machine and the file cabinet where the library money is kept, had been broken into with a crowbar. She called the police, who later determined the breakin had occurred through a rear "exit only", forced open with a crowbar. To the best of my knowledge, the shortage was not caused by fraud, nor gross negligence. The Auditor-Controller recommends relief of the $300.25 cash shortage be granted.
