PO Box 391 t_, {i aiutiiFF
Martinez, CA 94553
Dear Sheriff Rupf:
At its regular meeting of December 27, 1994, the Orinda City Council
approved the City's participation in the C.O.P.S. FAST grant program.
On February 8, 1995, Police Chief Scott Parsons received notification
from Joseph E. Brann, Director, C.O.P.S. Office, U.S. Department of
Justice, that Orinda was one of the few Contra Costa cities selected to
participate in the grant program. We feel quite fortunate to have been
selected inasmuch as the C.O.P.S. FAST program had received and
evaluated requests for over 18,000 officers.
As an element of that approval and grant acceptance, an increase in the
Police Department's current sworn positions of 12.66 to 13.66 is to be
effective July 1, 1995. We request that your staff take the necessary
steps to fill this position as soon as practicable.
We are looking forward to the continuation of our police services
contract, and the excellent relations we enjoy.
Sincerely,
`LA-
Cecil S. Riley
