HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05161995 - 1.17 Board of Supervisors Of Contra Costa County, State of California In the Matter of Proclaiming ) RESOLUTION NO. 95/204 Sunday, May 21, 1995 as ) "San Ramon Valley Discovery Center ) Day in Contra Costa County" ) WHEREAS, in acknowledgement of Discovery Center's nearly 24 years of serving in the mental health and substance abuse needs of the residents of and those employed in the San Ramon Valley and secondary service area of southern Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga ; and WHEREAS, in acknowledgement that for 18 years all services were FREE to the community and during the last seven years fees have been moderate and on a sliding scale and NO ONE IS DENIED SERVICE BECAUSE OF INABILITY TO PAY; and WHEREAS, in acknowledgement of eight years of the Child Abuse Prevention Program being offered to freshman in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) and six years of the School Counseling and Intervention Program (SCIP) providing counseling interns to the middle and high school students in the SRVUSD schools; and WHEREAS, Discovery Center has inaugurated the "Celebrate the Valley" event as a fundraiser to raise necessary funds to enable the agency to continue to offer services on a sliding scale basis to ALL in the community regardless of ability to pay: NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, does hereby SUPPORT and PROCLAIM Sunday, May 21, 1995 as the "San Ramon Valley Discovery Center and Celebrate the Valley Day" in Contra Costa County. This action is taken to publicize the important services offered by Discovery Center and to garner additional support from all sectors of the community in support of mental health and substance abuse programs.
