IN THE MATTER OF DECLARING ] RESOLUTION No. g5/153

AS COMMUNITY ACTION WEER IN ]
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY J
WHEREAS, The California-Nevada Community Action Association
(CAL/NEVA) is first and foremost an association of people committed
to effect local action to help move families and individuals out of
poverty and toward self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, CAL/NEVA provides advocacy at the state and federal level
for Community Action Agencies and community based organizations who
share a common mission; and
WHEREAS, The Community Services Department serves as the official
Community Action Agency for Contra Costa County and The Board of
Supervisors serves as one-third of the members of the Economic
Opportunity Council the official advisory body of the Community
Action Agency; and
WHEREAS, CAL/NEVA is a professional association of Community Action
Agency Executive. Directors, Board Chairpersons who seek to provide
economic opportunity to low-income people in California and Nevada;
and
WHEREAS, CAL/NEVA Is membership reflects the diverse cultural make-
up of the region and includes community leaders who are elected
officials, private sector representatives, and . low-income
individuals who together represents the concerns of more than three
and a half million impoverished California and Nevada residents -
children, the elderly, the unemployed, the hungry and homeless; and
WHEREAS, CAL/NEVA members and friends are meeting in Concord,
California to train and learn additional ways to end poverty and
create self-sufficiency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we .the Board of Supervisors, do
hereby proclaim April 24-29, 1995 as COMMUNITY ACTION WEER in
Contra Costa County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON April 11, 1995 by a unanimous vote of the
Board members present.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of
a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on
the date aforesaid.
