HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03211995 - 1.18 ,.l 0 Board of Supervisors Of Contra Costa County, State of California 1N THE MATTER DECLARING MARCH 26 - ] APRIL 1,1995 AS 'HUNGER AWARENESS WEEIC ] IN MUM COSTA COUNTY ] RESOLUTION NO. 9 5/112 WHEREAS, the number of hungry people in Contra Costa County is increasing, despite the efforts of local charities to provide food to residents in need; and WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Food Bank and its network of 200 member agencies is helping to feed more than 37,000 individuals every month, and the demand keeps growing; and WHEREAS, local charities and jurisdictions are taking steps to improve this situation, which threatens the health and well-being of our community. The real answers to the problem of hunger, however, require the education and participation of all citizens of Contra Costa County. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board of Supervisors, County of Contra Costa, State of California, does hereby proclaim March 26 - April 1, 1995 as Hunger Awareness Week in Contra Costa County. This action is taken to publicize this important issue and to garner additional support from all sectors of the community in the fight against hunger. Introduced by Gayle Bishop, 3rd District Supervisor and Chairwoman. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of those Supervisors present on March 21, 1995. 1 hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors.
